Sri Lankan Conflict

Hello 3E4 and 3A2

To get our discussion running, what are the causes (with clear elaborations) that led to the Sri Lankan conflict - between the Tamils and the Sinhalese?

The cause that led to the racial conflict is more or less about the two race wanting revenge.

When British colonial, the british favoured the tamils more than the sinhalese . Sinhalese felt unfair and when the Sri Lanka gain independent, the sinhalese wanted revenge.

They want to make the tamils suffer just how they suffer during the british colonial.

During the British colonial rule, the British favoured the minority in terms of jobs and education. The Sinhalese felt outcasted.

When it was finally time for Sri Lanka to become independent, they took the oppportunity to get revenge. The new government which was mainly made up of Sinhalese, introduced policies which favoured the sinhalese, neglecting the Tamils of their rights and privilege.

The causes of the conflict first started when the British favoured the Tamils as they were better in English compared to the Sinhalese. Therefore the Sinhalese started to envy the Tamils.

When Sri Lanka achieve independence and had its new government, a Sinhalese, they took over the country by introducing policies which favoured the Sinhalese. Tamils were unhappy and angry. Hence riots and conflicts occurred.

The causes that led to Sri Lankan conflict is mainly because of favourism that British [BR] had started off with first. The BR preferred the Tamils compared to the Sinhalese because of the intellectual level. [The Tamils were better in studies.] Moreover, the Tamils are more easily promoted in their jobs compared to the Sinhalese.[They are cleverer] Together, this had caused the Sinhalese to have more hard feelings towards the Tamils. Thus causing them to have a silent riot amongst themselves.

However, after Sri Lankan gained independence, the Sinhalese took the chance to overway the Tamils because they are the majorities. Since that, the Sinhalese are more biased and job promotions are not based on hardwork, instead, based on their race. [Sinhalese/Tamils]From there, the both races had strayed apart and Sinhalese make the Tamils suffer like how they did when Sri Lankan is under BR rule.

The cause that led to the racial conflict was because during the british colonial rule, the British didnt favour the Sinhalese, instead they favoured the Tamils since they were better in education or their jobs.

When Sri Lanka achieved independence, the new governnment consisted of mainly the Sinhalese, and therefore the Sinhalese were favoured. The Tamils were then left out and neglected, leading to the conflict.

during the british colonial rule, the british favour the tamil because of their cleverness and smartness.british bring tamil to sri lanka from india and make them live there . after sometime , sri lanka became indepedent and sinhalese take control and change their rule . some of the rule ... sinhala only policy,
citezen right universityy admission criteria and resettlement .then tamil have no basic right such as education, jobs, housing and voting.despite this , india people decide to help their citezen by bringing some to their country . they even pleaded with sinhalen to give them basic right despite all this being done, there are still 100000 tamil stateless. the tamil are upset because they could not go anywhere, no education , no job , no house ,cant get promoted and even no voitng. in education , the tamil have larger criteria to get into university . the sinhalese are at advantage and get alot of benefit . therefore they decided to turn to violence despite pleaded at them

thank you

the tamil inside sri lanka have been treated as a smart one since british rule over but when the sinhalese gain independent. The tamils was treated like they have turn into a non living thing or a plant which have no emotion or feeling because they would being rule by the sinhalese the four rules that limited then."sinhala only","critizenship right","universtiy critiria"and"resettlement".this limitation have cause the tamil living there either lose their houses or lose their job. This result has cause 100000 tamil to be stateless.i felt sad for them as they have no right but they still have to paid the government

During the British colonal rule, the British favour the indian as they are better in English and other matter but When the Sri Lanka became independent. The new government made up of mainly Sinhanlese passed the ceylon citizen act of 1948,thus alot of indian of left stateless and the Sinhala only policy plus uunfair University admission criteria and finally the resettlement of the Sinhalese let to the racial conflict
